Baltimore, MD. 19 Feb 2021The Reeds Fund is a Baltimore-based non-profit organization working to directly combat the social, political, and financial constraints that families with individuals on the autistic spectrum and sarcoidosis face. The Reeds Fund has launched its first scholarship fund targeting young adults on the autistic spectrum or diagnosed with sarcoidosis working to receive a secondary education degree or trade certification.

The founder, Matthew Reeds created this scholarship in honor of his mother Roxanne Reeds, who is also the namesake of the scholarship. She is a first-generation college student and a graduate of Baltimore’s Coppin State University. A lifelong educator, Reeds is also the adoptive mother of Matthew’s younger sister, My’Zaaih who was diagnosed with autism early in her life and has suffered from insufficient educational services in Baltimore.

Reeds has been recognized for her service to her community; most recently by the 62nd Governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan.

The Reeds Fund understands the necessity to work to alleviate the educational disparities that currently exist in Baltimore; while providing individuals the opportunity to live vibrant, productive lives. That work continues with the Roxanne Reeds Scholarship.

The scholarship application is open and will close on March 5, 2021.
